" From the Slovak mountains to the Icelandic glacier.."

Welcome to the website of EcoTours. This is a project of two university students from two different countries in Europe, Iceland and Slovakia. We represent the Agricultural University of Iceland and Hedmark University College in Norway. The aim of our project is to introduce the ideology of eco traveling to tourists from all over the world, with focus on traveling in our homelands. This project is the final part of a course called "Open Source GIS, GPS and Crowd Sourcing", a NORDNATUR Intensive Course at the University of Copenhagen.

In this website you will find information about two different areas, one in Iceland and the other in Slovakia. You can find some interactive GIS-maps with diverse information for tourists, photos with GPS-coordinates from our two different areas, short texts, and links to some interesting websites.

The Icelandic area that we chose to introduce is called Snæfellsnes, a peninsula in the western part of the country. In the western part of the Peninsula there is one of Iceland's three national parks, Snæfellsjökull National Park. The Slovakian area that we chose to introduce is a national park in The Nizke Tatry Mountain Range in central Slovakia, called Low Tatras National Park.
